Computer Spin Weekly- Keyboard emergency! Inevitably it happens to
everyone...you're sitting there working away and you reach and whatever
you were drinking ends up all over the keyboard. Oh NO! You panic and
grab napkins and start picking up the keyboard and trying to get all of
the liquid out of there before it ruins everything. Well, go ahead and
wipe up as best as you can, but whatever you do, DO NOT PICK UP THE
KEYBOARD AND ATTEMPT TO DRAIN THE LIQUID BACK THROUGH THE KEYS!!! See,
on the inside of your keyboard, on the bottom is nothing more than a
plastic plate. So, if liquid gets on it, it won't really hurt anything
and it will eventually dry. The circuits and all the parts that will
make the keys stick or malfunction are actually located directly under
the keys! So, if you spill something, chances are it will drip right
past the sensitive parts and onto the plastic bottom. However, if you
turn the keyboard over before it is dry, you can almost guarantee

In today's world, if you aren't familiar with computers, you need to be.
Understanding the basic operations of a computer may seem difficult at
first, but it will make your work life so much easier.



The most commonly used programs in the workplace are Microsoft Word and
Microsoft Excel. Many places ask for employees to be familiar with
Microsoft PowerPoint and Intuit QuickBooks is becoming increasing
popular, even among non-accounting job positions.



In addition, if a person were to understand computer basics along with
the four above mentioned programs, their resume is bound to stand out
above those that do not have these skills. Even for a person not

Attitude

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude of life.
Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than
the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures,
than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more
important that appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a
company... a church... a home. The remarkable this is we have a choice
every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot
change our past... We cannot change the fact that people will act in a
certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do
is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude... I am
convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.
And so it is with you... we are in charge of our attitudes.

Google Search Tricks 101

Do you Google? You may have mastered a few basic tricks, like searching for a local restaurant, or looking up the closest Wal*Mart, but most people use only about 3% of the search engine’s available tools. So, here’s a lesson in Google Search Tricks 101, courtesy of the tech website LifeHacker.org:
First, wanna know what time it is in, say, Paris, or Lima, Peru? In the search box, simply type “what time is it” and the name of the city.
Next, wanna know if Uncle Mike’s flight is arriving on time? Just type the name of the airline and the flight number, and you’ll get the departure and estimated arrival times.
Would you like to track a package? In the search box, simply type in the tracking number and press ENTER. Whether it’s a package that was shipped via FedEx, UPS or the Post Office, Google will cough up the tracking information.
Another great Google trick: It converts everything! If you want the number of teaspoons in a cup, the number of seconds in 2 hours, or how many Euros you’ll get for $50, just type it in and bingo, there it is!
Want information on a product? Type ALL of the numbers beneath any barcode – whether it’s on a book, a box of crackers, or a bottle of hairspray - and Google will provide links so you can research the product, or buy it.
To narrow your search results, you can subtract items from the list. For example, if you’re looking for candy that’s not chocolate and not for Easter, type in candy (space) (minus-sign) chocolate (space)(minus-sign) Easter and the search engine will overlook anything that refers to “chocolate” or “Easter.”
Finally, if you’re looking for pictures or drawings, click on “Images” in the upper left corner of the Google search page. Then type the word “people” or “sunsets” or “puppies” in the search box. Iinstead of websites, you’ll get pictures. Now you can fully harness the power of Google!

Recommendations for Businesses in the event of a natural disaster:
· have an evacuation plan that provides for everyone on the premises to leave the workplace safely and quickly
· maintain a list and contact information for all employees and mission-critical business partners (including work and cell phones, work and/or personal email addresses, PIN numbers, etc); the list should include employees, customers, vendors, bankers, attorneys, and insurance agents
· establish a means of and plan for contacting employees who have been displaced from their homes by the disaster
· make clear arrangements for all staff to be able to contact the business or locate information about the business if it is temporarily closed or forced from its normal location
· establish procedures for succession of management
· identify operations critical to the company's survival and recovery
· decide which personnel and what records, procedures, and equipment are necessary to keep the business operating
· preserve vital business records, financial data, accounting records, personnel information, inventory information, etc.
· back up computerized records daily and store the backups, along with other vital records, at an off-site location (consider the use of a remote data center, if possible)
· plan how to continue operating if the building, plant, or store is not accessible
· prepare for lengthy power interruptions during and after a disaster (i.e., arranging for alternate power sources, fuel supplies, etc.)
· maintain and distribute to employees and partners the contact information for FEMA and SBA disaster assistance
